Rubrics Used for Judging
Judging Process: Overall, we awarded 15 special prizes that recognized the exceptional efforts put in by our students. Additionally, all students received a pin, certificates of accomplishment, and were invited to a special field trip to the Land of Make Believe
1. Judges first evaluated if the project fit the description of a scientific method experiment or an innovation and design project.
2. Students were each judged and assigned a numerical score in the first and second round of judging. These scores were averaged and the overall winners were chosen for the Overall Excellence Awards
3. Judges nominated "Special Category Awards" that were tallied and discussed between judges. In the case of a tie, judges used the numerical score and discussed merits of one project in comparison to another in order to reach a decision.
4. Finally, students were able to create their own "Student Choice" award by picking the project they liked the best.
