MOMS students sing in area honor choirs

posted: Fri, Nov 18th, 2016

Eight MOMS choral students were recently selected and performed as part of the Morris Area Middle School Honor Choir and the Morris Area High School Choir. About 45 students from 12 area middle schools and about 80 students from 15 area high schools took part in the annual concert, sponsored by the Morris Area Choral Directors Association.

Aasha Arun, Natalie Paitchel, Charmaine Sebastian, Lily Walsh, Shayna Wilson, and Alexa Yudoff sang with middle school choir; Surya Chinnappa and Robert Kirschner performed with the high school choir.

"I am so proud of them and the hard work they put into the auditions and rehearsals," said choral teacher Joanna Scarangello. "They did a wonderful job."

Students were chosen for the choirs after auditioning in front of a panel of judges and conductors. The concert was held just 12 days afterward. In that time, the students practiced for more than 20 hours over the course of five rehearsals.

The choirs performed at Parsippany High School.
