CMS-SCA Executive Board

The CMS-SCA is sometimes perceived as a fundraising group, but this is not its primary responsibility. Nonetheless, in times where schools face tough budget restrictions, the parents in the SCA raise funds for everything from homework agendas for each student, playground equipment, bookfair dollars for each student, books for the school library, 5th grade class gift, 5th grade yearbooks, to smartboards.

The SCA raises a portion of the school's discretionary money, the SCA has influence on which programs are funded. Ideally the SCA will work with the principal and school staff to decide jointly which programs will most benefit the school. SCA meetings can serve as venues for discussions about a variety of educational topics. Parents may raise concerns about such things as homework or proposed changes in the school curriculum with Principal Moore & Board Member Dr. Gayles who both attend each meeting.
