Talking with Children After Trauma

Listed below are helpful resources and information for parents to utilize when assisting their students who may be dealing with sadness, grief, helplessness, anxiety, and anger over recent traumatic events. Please be advised that this information has been provided by the Child Mind Institute to aid parents, educators, and other adults in talking to children and adolescents about traumatic events and identifying those who might benefit from more focused professional attention. Parents need to utilize discretion in making decisions about how and what to talk to their child about and when to seek outside professional assistance.  One of the articles, though dated, is still relevant and credible in providing suggestions from assisting parents and children.
