Agustin Gisinger shows off his gold medal and his "Fernando the Dragon" sculpture

Mount Olive Middle School art students were rewarded for their creativity and artistry at the 2018 Morris County Teen Arts Festival. They took home four awards, including a Best in Show Gold Medal for eighth-grader Agustin Gisinger for his dragon crafted with plastic wrap and tape. Mercades Mitchell, Olivia Ahgabi, and Alissa Skakalskaya were honored with ribbons for distinction in the visual arts.

The festival was held at County College of Morris in Randolph and featured professional performances, critiquing seminars, and workshops in art, dance, design, drama, graphic design, music, music recording, musical theater, photography, video and writing. Each county holds its own showcase for its students and the best work is shown at the state festival which is dedicated to inspiring New Jersey students to pursue careers in the arts.

Agustin’s sculpture and the work of the other gold medalists (including a mixed media piece from a student at Mount Olive High School) will be displayed at the New Jersey Teen Arts Festival at Ocean County College from May 30–June 1.
