2ND FLOOR Youth Helpline
2ND FLOOR is a toll free helpline to assist youth with daily life challenges, concerns, questions, decision making etc.  Professional staff members and trained volunteers are available to help young people seek further help within their families by talking to a parent, guardian or other relative.  The goal of 2ND FLOOR is to strengthen communication and mobilize support within families.  This helpline is meant as a prevention tool, before issues turn into crises.  The helpline offers a way to relieve some of the pressures that affect young people today.  This helpline is not a form of professional counseling however, and parents are urged to seek professional evaluation and/or treatment if they feel a child is suffering from mental illness.

Some of the topics that 2ND FLOOR helps young people with include:

  • Evaluating daily choices
  • Coping with the aftermath of divorce
  • Experiencing racism
  • Living with a disability
  • Concerns over bullying and peer pressure
  • Issues related to sexuality
  • Worries about family conflicts
  • Problems in peer and dating relationshops
  • Questions about drug and alcohol abuse
